The College of Law at the University of Al-Qadisiyah places great importance on the issue of energy and climate change, recognizing that environmental sustainability is no longer a choice but a necessity to ensure a balanced academic and healthy future. In line with the university’s vision of transforming the campus into a green and sustainable environment, the College has adopted advanced policies to rationalize energy consumption, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and promote the use of renewable energy sources across its buildings and facilities.

The College has begun implementing a gradual transition toward clean energy through the adoption of eco-friendly air-conditioning and lighting systems that operate with high energy efficiency and significantly reduce electricity consumption compared to conventional systems. In coordination with the university administration, the College has also launched a solar energy project to supply part of its electricity needs—a practical step toward achieving partial self-sufficiency in renewable energy and reducing pressure on the national grid. It is expected that, in its next stages, this project will cover a substantial portion of the College’s overall energy consumption, aligning with national sustainability objectives and clean-energy policies.

From an architectural perspective, the College incorporates green building principles into all new construction and renovation projects, emphasizing natural ventilation, thermal insulation, and the use of environmentally friendly materials to reduce the carbon footprint of its facilities. Additionally, its maintenance and operational procedures follow energy-efficiency standards through continuous monitoring of electricity usage and by encouraging all departments to adopt responsible and rational energy practices.

Beyond technical measures, the College has also focused on legal and environmental awareness by organizing workshops, seminars, and academic discussions on renewable energy, global warming, environmental pollution, and their relation to national and international legal frameworks. These activities reflect the College’s commitment to integrating environmental education into legal studies and promoting research that bridges law and sustainability.

The College also contributes to research and academic programs addressing the intersection between law and climate change, producing specialized studies on environmental legislation, accountability for pollution, and the legal mechanisms that ensure climate justice. Such initiatives demonstrate the role of law as an effective tool for environmental protection and sustainable resource management.

Through these efforts, the College of Law at the University of Al-Qadisiyah reaffirms its strong commitment to building a sustainable academic environment powered by clean energy, reducing its carbon emissions, and instilling a deep sense of environmental responsibility among students and faculty. The College views sustainability not merely as an institutional benchmark but as an integrated philosophy—one that combines clean technology, eco-friendly infrastructure, and legal awareness to prepare a new generation capable of safeguarding the environment and addressing the global challenges of climate change.
